Scott Menzies is the Director of the Sydney Melanoma Diagnostic Centre and an Associate Professor of Medicine (Melanoma & Skin Oncology) at the University of Sydney.
He has been researching and treating patients with skin cancer since 1988 and has been a clinician at the Sydney Melanoma Unit since 1991. For the majority of this time his activities have been solely related to skin cancer. In particular, he has a strong clinical interest in methods for the diagnosis of melanoma and moles. His research interests include the development of instrumentation for the diagnosis of melanoma, melanoma vaccines, and animal models of skin cancer. He also has a strong background in teaching undergraduates, general practitioners and specialists on methods for diagnosing melanoma and is the author of 3 books on this subject.
Scott Menzies has given over 60 conference presentations on skin cancer, including an invited speaker for 30 presentations at International conferences. He has been, or is currently, a member of 10 skin cancer advisory committees including that which developed the Australian Guidelines for the Management of Cutaneous Melanoma (Australian Cancer Network, NH&MRC) and is a secretary of the International Dermoscopy Society. He is on the council of the Melanoma Foundation, a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Melanoma & Skin Cancer Research Institute and is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the British Journal of Plastic Surgery.
